Ok, this is a super chocolate cake. Very happy with how it turned out.
Poor Cha spent a fair bit of the afternoon drooling because of the smell it was putting through the apartment, and she was hanging for the chocolate fix.
It was the first time I’d made a cake from scratch for a while, so that was a bit nerve wracking as well.
As the recipe said, the top would split a bit, and it did. It said a cook time of 35-45 minutes, but I think I put it in initially for 25. Genius. Needless to say, the skewer came out pretty messy at that point. Another five, then another five and it was looking better. Amazing, I know.
In the end I baked it for 42 minutes and got this.
It then had to sit in the tin for a couple of hours to cool properly before the icing was applied, so I bought her off with a very nice Béchamel Sauce to go with the corned beef for dinner.
I’m getting pretty good at zesting citrus now, so zesting the orange was fairly quick, then I chopped it up with a knife and we get this.
Cha FINALLY got to get into it, and has given it a very big tick.
She’s off to see a friend in the country tomorrow, so she’ll take half of it with her for morning tea. Nice.
