To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from Pellaroma. I was thinking it was going to be a typical Southbank tourist trap, a huge barn that just churned people through, like Blue Train.
But I was totally wrong. While it seats 180, it does so across three distinct areas, so it’s not feeling like a huge place. And the food was excellent.
Service was excellent – from ringing to book (voucher requirement), to ordering, to the table service from the cute French waitress.
I had the Big Breakfast, while Cha went for the “Eggs Pellaroma”, and both were good.
What are “Eggs Pellaroma”, I hear you ask? English muffins, with bacon, poached eggs and topped with avocado slices and melted cheese.
They tasted as good as they look and sound.
The Big Breakfast is well named – Eggs, toast, chorizo, hash brown, mushrooms, spinach and tomato.
it was all good, although the toast was a bit “crunchy” and tended to fly apart, even when it was somewhat egg-soaked. But everything was perfectly cooked, and of a decent size. Can’t complain about that.
TLDR: They do a good breakfast.
